Slate Opens Indiana Plant to Media as Reservations Reach 180,000
Slate opened its Warsaw, Indiana factory to media tours on September 18, and the company is still targeting the start of vehicle production in Q4 2026.
Plant Details
- Workforce: 575 employees today, roughly 70-80% local, with more than 2,000 planned at full operation.
- Robots: 374 in the body shop alone.
- Size: A 1.4 million sq ft former printing facility, with a 100,000-130,000 sq ft expansion due by the end of 2026.
Demand
Slate now reports 180,000 reservations between April 2025 and June 2026, up from the 160,000+ we had been citing. The base truck is $24,950 and sold direct to consumers.
What to Watch
The plant is impressive, but no customer trucks have been built yet. Q4 2026 is close, so the first production units should show up within the next few months.
